Einstein and Hawking & Why I’m smarter than Both…..

Take a look at this quick little video…. Don’t watch it ironically, or with a smirk. Try not to watch it with your head, but with your heart. Listen to the music, try and remove all distractions – if you can make it full-screen – do it….

Maybe I’m being overly sentimental, I suppose I probably am. I was sent this video a couple of months back and for whatever reason it made a big impact on me. I think it does an exceptional job of reminding us, that life is composed entirely of millions of moments, but we live only one of these moments at a time. As we begin to change this moment, we begin to change our lives. Every single moment we are given a choice, a decision, an opportunity to progress, regress or remain stagnant. If asked directly what would your answer be, which choice do you consistently make. Not which choice WOULD you like to make, or which choice did you intend to make – but really, just between you and me, what choices do you make?

Life can be arbitrary. Something can happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, something that impacts the entire course of the rest of your life. Take a minute to consider the moment, rather than projecting hours, days, weeks or years ahead – personally, I think doing this no matter how briefly, well, we can’t help but enjoy our lives more. A great deal of time is spent anywhere but in the here and now. How many people do you know who spend far far too much time dwelling in the past? Replaying sorrows, regrets and missed opportunities – over and over? Listen, no matter how hard you fixate on them, they ain’t coming back – let’em go…. How many other people spend the majority of their time in the future, worrying, planning, scheduling? Of course I’m not advocating entirely disregarding the future or the past, that’s dumb and you do so at your own peril. We’ve all heard the quote about people who forget the past are doomed to repeat it….. What I am saying, is enjoy what you have, right now, this minute, take a second for yourself –  notice how good your coffee tastes or how great your hair looks, or the music you are listening to…. the blog you are currently reading is so damn inspirational… whatever the case may be and if none of the examples work for you – well you’re a grown-up – try to find one thing right now that pleases you. Because soon, this moment will be gone… forever.

With a tip of the hat to both Einstein and Hawking, I have my own theory of how the space-time continuum works. It too is relative but relative and specific to chronological age. Think back to when you were a kid, do you remember being two weeks away from Christmas, or summer vacation or your birthday or a trip somewhere…. I believe at these times there opens a distinctive rift in time – a time echo, that causes time itself to slow down, so two weeks seems more like three hundred weeks…. after the event, the rift is closed and time resumes back to its normal passing. Conversely, when we age and the older we get – a corresponding and proportional rift opens which now takes all those time signatures which were lengthened during childhood (the original rift echo) and these chunks of time are now inserted into our daily lives. So what we perceive as being only a few days or weeks, in reality can be as long as four or five years. Hands up those of you who think 1995 is only a couple of years ago…. Ok ready for this… it’s actually Fifteen years ago…. How many times have you heard and older person say, it seems like only yesterday… yep – time rift echo displacement….

.

Now I don’t have all the kinks worked out yet but I think you’d be hard pressed to find any flaw in my logic. There are some anomalies that still need to be resolved for example, in childhood the majority of the rifts slow time down BUT there are some instances where time can speed up significantly – back to school is just one example, looking at the calendar little Jimmy and Susie notice there are only three weeks of summer vacation left, they go to bed and in the morning, vacation is over… Where has this time gone…. Like I said – there are still some kinks….

Just do me a favour, watch the video and enjoy.. then pick one thing, just one teeny tiny thing that is good, one moment that provides you with something positive and enjoyable today. If you can’t, keep looking – because I’m sure it’s out there… if absolutely nothing makes you feel better about yourself, you may use this… at least I’m not Chris…..

Have a Great Day.
