Child Abuse & Animal Love
I feel a rant coming on…..
Where do our parents get off dressing us as such little freaks when we are too young to know any better and even if we did we didn’t have the power to resist. True, it was a kinder and gentler age back in the day, when I was a kid, we’d get up, rush outside and jump on our bikes and only come home for lunch or to use the bathroom – and that was only if the other options were already exhausted… the options, you could eat or go to the bathroom at a friends, you could use the bathroom at the gas station or as a last result the “pee” bush we had in the alley…. sometimes, it was really the only option….
I look at my kids now and how conscious they are of everything – I just don’t see any of the kids I know using a “pee” bush, let alone spend time in a an alley. Never mind what clothes they are comfortable enough wearing out of the house, they are also very strict rules and regulations that govern what clothes are acceptable to hang out in at home….. It’s true, I hear stories all the time of roving jack-booted, Gestapo – stormtrooper teenagers busting in your front door and lobbing in tear gas just because your hoodie isn’t regulation….. just ask my daughters.. the wrong clothes can get you shot in the face with rubber bullets or so they have been trying to convince me……
Now here’s where the child abuse comes in, and I’m the victim – most of my kids clothes cost more than mine, so they should have no complaints…. I’m talking about my/our parents…. take a look at this ad then go ahead, stand up – and tell me to my face your parents didn’t inflict something similar on you when you were younger….
I can remember wearing stuff like this, I remember standing in Woolworths with my mother and her showing me Butterick & Simplicity -pattern after pattern and asking me to choose the ones I liked best….. I just don’t remember being all that interested, my main concern was not being itchy……
And from their ultimate getting your ass kicked instantly collection……
Anyways the point here is twofold one, we weren’t nearly as wrapped up in what we were willing to wear, lord knows if we were then we would have gone all Children of the Corn on our parents years ago…. and two kids today are entirely too wrapped up in what they are allowed to wear. Where is the happy medium? Did I miss it?
As I get older I have less “issues” with what I am willing to wear out in public… hey if this is the fashion now… then I’ll start leaving the belt at home……

As for the animal love, I found this picture and I thought it so perfectly illustrated the point I made in an earlier blog about how seemingly every single couple on earth is made up of different “races”…… plus I thought it was funny and wanted to share…. further words fail me……
Have a Great Day.
